Origin Story - Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Solara - founder of The Black Rabbit skin clinic
I've been part of the beauty industry since 2014, working in different salons across NSW and QLD, and opened my first salon in Charlestown in 2018.
This was Newcastle's first fully vegan and cruelty free beauty salon, and during my time there, the consistent feedback I heard was:
“You’re the first beauty therapist I’ve ever felt comfortable with.”
After Covid lockdowns, life took me in a different direction.
I've always had a passion for natural skincare, but it was my own journey with hormonal acne that eventually led me to study further to become a Skin Therapist, gaining an advanced knowledge of skin science and the ability to treat more complex conditions than what's possible with a standard beauty therapy diploma, including acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more.
Tired of the status quo of traditional salons, and with the help of my partner Shari, who has a background in Environmental Science and Project Management, I set out to create something new: a space that’s inclusive, results-driven, and designed for long-term skin transformation through understanding and barrier-first treatments.
