Skin Needling
What is Skin Needling?
Skin needling is a clinical treatment that uses ultra-fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process oxygenates the skin and triggers a natural healing response, releasing a number of beneficial growth factors to repair and treat various conditions, and stimulating collagen and elastin production—the building blocks of healthy, youthful skin.
Skin needling is a versatile treatment that addresses a variety of skin concerns, including:
-
Acne Scarring & Texture: Stimulates the repair of scar tissue and smooths uneven skin texture caused by breakouts.
-
Fine Lines & Wrinkles: Boosts collagen and elastin, helping to soften fine lines and support firmer, plumper skin.
-
Pigmentation & Sun Damage: Assists in fading post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, and sun spots by accelerating skin cell turnover and creating new, healthy melanocytes for even skin pigment.
-
Rosacea: Breaks down excessive capillary networks which are present in a rosacea skin, and promotes angiogenesis - the formation of new, healthy, well-formed capillaries that provide nutrients to the skin without redness and inflammation.
Why Our Skin Needling Is Different
At The Black Rabbit, skin needling is never rushed, stacked, or scheduled by default. Every treatment plan is guided by:
-
Skin barrier integrity
-
Inflammatory load
-
Healing capacity
-
Your specific skin concern
This is why skin preparation is required before skin needling — often over several months. Healthy, well-prepared skin heals more efficiently, requires fewer treatments, and delivers superior long-term outcomes.
Skin Needling Myths
❌ “You need monthly skin needling”
You don’t — and in many cases, you shouldn’t.
Collagen formation following skin needling takes weeks to months.
Performing treatments too frequently disrupts this process and can result in chronic inflammation, lower collagen quality, and barrier breakdown.
For ageing and dermal rejuvenation, skin needling should never be performed less than 6 weeks apart, and often longer.
Any clinic recommending indefinite monthly skin needling either:
-
Lacks education in skin physiology
-
Or prioritises retention over results
❌ “More treatments mean better results”
Better-timed treatments produce better results.
Skin does not heal on a subscription schedule. Over-treating skin does not accelerate outcomes — it actively works against them.
❌ “Skin needling is a forever treatment”
Skin needling is designed to be finite, not ongoing.
Depending on your skin concern, you may require:
-
As few as 2–3 sessions
-
Or a defined series spread over several months
Once the treatment goal is achieved, skin should be supported and maintained — not repeatedly wounded.
Cost vs Value:
Why Fewer Treatments Cost Less in the Long Run
While our per-treatment price is higher than salons offering “monthly skin needling subscriptions,” our clients often spend less overall — and achieve better results. This is because:
-
You receive only the number of treatments your skin actually needs
-
Treatments are spaced correctly for optimal collagen formation
-
Skin is prepared beforehand to reduce complications and setbacks
-
Results are achieved without over-treatment or barrier damage
Monthly memberships rely on frequency, not outcomes. Our approach relies on clinical judgement and skin physiology.
Ethical skin therapy is not the cheapest upfront option — but it is often the most cost-effective in the long term.
Pricing
Face Only | $399
Face and Neck | $499
Face, Neck and Décolletage | $599
*Price listed above is for a single session. Depending on your skin concerns, a course of between 3 and 10 sessions may be required, with time between treatments also varying.
Skin Needling is a highly effective treatment which requires correct skin preparation with prior facials and homecare. As such, it is not available to be booked online. Please chat with our skin therapists about incorporating this into your treatment plan.
